The Toronto Star featured an arcticle about the Twilight trailer and its amazing success and how insatiable the fan appetites are for it. I think you can go to their website and read it.

And, literally, right now Virgin Radio is having a live talk about Twilight and having people call in to talk about it. Itapos;s so cool. Iapos;m sure there are tons of things like this going on around the world but .. Wow.

I took today off too and just slept until noon. I needed that - I havenapos;t had enough sleep in weeks.

I havenapos;t been buying much of anything for myself lately, but I had birthday money. So, once I finally got my ass out of here, I went to a "childrenapos;s flea market" at as school down the block. It turned out to be a fairly big childrenapos;s book sale. I found some great things, including The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins and a board book from the 1962 called Starfish - which really is all about starfish:

Heheehee.

I picked up a new sketchbook and took the Subway to the American Museum of Natural History. I had intended to spend the whole day there, but I kept getting sidetracked. Thereapos;s a Goodwill store on the way, and I had to stop and check the stuffed animal bin. I once saw someone find a mohair bear in the bin and was intensely jealous, and now I check every time I pass the store - which makes no sense. Itapos;s the same logic as buying a lottery ticket from a place where someone once got lucky. So I was completely shocked to find a Steiff bear I bought it for $2.99. ^____^

I found the first bench I could in the museum and drew the nearest skeleton, which happened to be from a Gompotherium - a prehistoric elephant with four tusks. It was so much fun and I need to do this much more often. At least once a month. The only problem is a sad lack of benches in the dinosaur hall. I seriously doubt theyapos;d let me bring a chair in there. Meh.

After that I went shoe shopping in Union square which was NOT fun because it was crowded and they never have my size and I hate all forms of clothes shopping. :< I did find one pair before I got fed up and then ordered another when I got home, so it wasnapos;t a total loss.

And now Iapos;m home and playing with kitties.

Good news: Symposium is over and no one died or failed to show up.

Bad news: Ate so much at the closing reception that I cannot move. UGH...why did I stuff all those random biscuits into my face?

Other news (still symposium related): All the speakers were gracious and very complimentary. Everything went off really wonderfully. Josh came all day and was very supportive, lots of the 2L came out to help (including the one who picked up the programs at the last minute because the original order was ALL Fapos;D UP). It was really a great success and I am so. Fapos;n. Glad. Itapos;s over. Funny thing: my body decided today was a good day to revolt against me by being uncontrolably hideous. I developed this giant pulsing boil on my chin and I had ginormous pit stains all day. Meh. Luckily I was wearing a cute new outfit so no one noticed (or at least no one cared).

I still have to take Lee back to the train station tomorrow morning and take the infamous Lou Fisher on a leaf peeping tour all day. Feh.

Well, itapos;s mostly over anyway. Now I can catch up on the weekapos;s worth of work I didnapos;t do. Yuck.

�I went to a bar with a friend from work tonight. He knows a lot of the people there, some of them since high school. They have karaoke on Thursdays and Saturdays. I�went home to shower before going. I�told him that if they have Limelight, a song by Rush, put me up for it because that is the only song I�have karaoked. They have it plus around ten more Rush songs. I�am a HUGE�Rush fan. Have every album, studio and live, and know every note. I�did it pretty well and people were singing WITH me and cheering me on. This place will keep me busy at least until the end of the year because of course I have to do all of those songs. One of them even defines what I�aspire to be and in some ways I�believe that I�am already.�

Aside from the fun that I�had, it seems like this is the place where I�have the greatest chance of meeting someone with similar interests. The trick is to stay calm, cool, and collected. I�think I�have made great strides in that dept over the last few months. I�hope that is not my imagination.�
