I took today off too and just slept until noon. I needed that - I havenapos;t had enough sleep in weeks.

I havenapos;t been buying much of anything for myself lately, but I had birthday money. So, once I finally got my ass out of here, I went to a "childrenapos;s flea market" at as school down the block. It turned out to be a fairly big childrenapos;s book sale. I found some great things, including The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins and a board book from the 1962 called Starfish - which really is all about starfish:


"Baby starfish eat and eat and EAT. First they eat tiny things that float in the sea. Then they eat mussels and oysters and clams. The eat and they eat. They grow and they grow."

Heheehee.

I picked up a new sketchbook and took the Subway to the American Museum of Natural History. I had intended to spend the whole day there, but I kept getting sidetracked. Thereapos;s a Goodwill store on the way, and I had to stop and check the stuffed animal bin. I once saw someone find a mohair bear in the bin and was intensely jealous, and now I check every time I pass the store - which makes no sense. Itapos;s the same logic as buying a lottery ticket from a place where someone once got lucky. So I was completely shocked to find a Steiff bear I bought it for $2.99. ^____^

I found the first bench I could in the museum and drew the nearest skeleton, which happened to be from a Gompotherium - a prehistoric elephant with four tusks. It was so much fun and I need to do this much more often. At least once a month. The only problem is a sad lack of benches in the dinosaur hall. I seriously doubt theyapos;d let me bring a chair in there. Meh.

After that I went shoe shopping in Union square which was NOT fun because it was crowded and they never have my size and I hate all forms of clothes shopping. :< I did find one pair before I got fed up and then ordered another when I got home, so it wasnapos;t a total loss.

And now Iapos;m home and playing with kitties.
